Katherine Elizabeth “Betty” Wood Palmer, 96, a resident at Penn Hall, Chambersburg, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Saturday, August 12, 1916 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late G. Herbert and Elizabeth S. Reed Wood.
Betty was a 1934 graduate of the Chambersburg Senior High School and attended Business College in Baltimore. She worked in Baltimore as a Medical Receptionist until her marriage in 1943.
Betty was a member of the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church and the Chambersburg Country Club. She had a real love for animals and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are two nephews; Larry W. Robinson of St. Thomas and James Robinson of Chambersburg, one niece; Jane Robinson of Upper Strasburg, and two cousins; Ann Osterman of Chambersburg and Sue Lesher of Marion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Palmer who died May 9, 1999 and two sisters; Anne W. Robinson and Margaret W. Davison.
A graveside service will be held Monday, November 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Norland Cemetery with the Rev. William Harter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
