Karen D. Winter

May 27, 1955 — December 28, 2024

Newville

“I want to be like a sunflower so that even on the darkest days I will stand tall and find the sunlight.”

Karen D. Winter (Martin) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on December 28, 2024. Karen was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother. Her warm heart and generous spirit touched everyone she met. A dedicated soul, Karen found great joy in helping others, whether through her work or in her everyday life. She built her own successful cleaning business where she not only took pride in her work but also formed deep, lasting relationships with her clients.

Family was at the core of Karen’s life, and she especially treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for them was immeasurable, and her joy in their company was evident to all who knew her. Karen also had a deep passion for nature, with a particular fondness for plants and animals, always finding peace and solace in their presence.

Though Karen is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be forever remembered and dearly missed.

Born May 27, 1955, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Dora D. Martin. She was a graduate from Big Spring High School.

She is survived by her husband Randy Winter; her children, Jeremy Rhone and wife Nicole, Jamie Rhone and wife Michelle; a brother Robert Martin; grandchildren, Karissa Kleinfelter and husband Scottie, Jameson Rhone, Jonathan Rhone; and great-granddaughter Nevaeh Kleinfelter.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Martin and Dora Martin; and a son, Jesse Rhone.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. in Shippensburg. As per Karen’s request, there will be no public viewing, visitation, or service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Margaret Moul Cerebral Palsy Home at 2050 Barley Rd., York, PA 17408.
