Kandy R. Gilbert

Kandy R. Gilbert, 68, of Shippensburg departed this life on Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. 

Born Saturday, March 24, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Paul D. and Zola Mae (Hockenberry) Richardson. She married Robert Paul Gilbert on June 24, 1972 in Fayetteville who passed away on June 10, 2010. 

Earlier in life, Kandy worked at the Route 11 Pit Stop in Chambersburg. She then moved on to work as a driver for FedEx which she enjoyed. Kandy loved and cherished her family. She found joy in watching her son’s deer, playing bingo, watching TV, sitting in her gazebo, and spending time with her poodle, Jumper. Kandy was an excellent cook who loved to make large meals to feed her entire family. She always looked forward to Thursday night meals at her house. 

Kandy is survived by a son, Chris P. and wife Tammy Gilbert of Shippensburg; five grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia, Kloe, Kenzie, and Garrett; a brother, Frank Richardson of Chambersburg; three sisters, Pam Cook of Chambersburg, Dixie Richardson of Shippensburg, and Lori Hampton of Chambersburg; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Travis Gilbert; and two brothers, Dana Paul Richardson and Ronald Ray Richardson. 

Kandy’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. As per Kandy’s wishes, there will be no public viewing or visitation. A graveside service will be held at Air Hill Cemetery on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor John Melhorn officiating.
