June Martin, 84, of Means Hollow Road, Shippensburg, died Friday, April 22, 2011 in the Falling Spring Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, where she resided.
Born May 26, 1926 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Fredyth Swartz Hockersmith.
June was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God and their Kings, Sons, and Daughters Sunday School Class. She worked at Cressler’s Fruit Market as a cashier for over 20 years.
Surviving are two daughters; Sharon R. Nye and her husband William, Roxbury, and Janice K. Shoap and her husband, Jerry, Hanover, three brothers; John Allen Hockersmith, Freeport, FL, J. Lee and Bruce W. Hockersmith, both of Shippensburg, one sister; Norma Karper, Mechanicsburg, four grandchildren; Kathleen Hamaker, Orrstown, Jennifer Pogue, Greenvillage, Jeremy Shoap, Hanover and Jordan Shoap, Fort Bragg, NC, and five great grandchildren; Luke, Ben, Grayson, Blake and Aizik and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry R. “Pepper” Martin who died January 26, 1987
A Graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with the Pastor Jerry Shoap officiating.
