Judy Patricia Buchan, 68, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of December 7, 2021, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born on January 26, 1953, in Queens, NY, a daughter of Violet (Sloggie) and the late Vito J. Cavalcante.
Judy was primarily a homemaker throughout her life. She was always very family oriented, very selfless, and compassionate to others. Judy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren immensely. She was well known for her wonderful sense of humor and ability to make people laugh. If you were her Facebook friend, then you’ve probably see the countless funny posts that she’d make and maybe she even sent you a recipe to try to make………but for her though. Judy’s smile and laughter will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three daughters, Nicole Buchan of Johnstown, Leslie Bowers and husband Gary of Shippensburg, and Michelle Buchan of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Taylor Heinrich, Cali Cassick, and Bryson Bowers; siblings, Cathy Cavalcante of Glen Burnie, Cindy Jett and husband Chip of Glen Burnie, and David Cavalcante of Clearwater, FL; cousins, Carmine Iorio of Honeoye, NY and Sal Iorio of Grantville, NY; her goddaughters, Krystal Spencer of Glen Burnie and Violet Cavalcante-Walsh of Newport News, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Judy was preceded in death by godson/nephew, Travis Hughes.
Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. A memorial service will be planned for a future date and time.
