Judith Van Scyoc

Judith L. Van Scyoc, 79, a resident of Green Ridge Village in Newville, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024.

Born on Thursday, August 17, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Roberta (Dickerson) and Merle Black. She married Wesley A. Van Scyoc on October 26, 1963 in Hagerstown, MD.

Judith always had a great love for children and spent a majority of her life in childcare taking care of many children at home and at the former Mt. Rock Daycare. She also worked as a Deli Clerk at the County Market in Chambersburg for several years. Judith was a member of the Franklin County Farm Women Group 2 and was known for serving and making French fries at the Shippensburg Fair as well as the Roxbury Holiness Camp. Judith was a member of the Green Spring Church of God where she attended. She found great joy in collecting peanut butter glasses, pigs, and Longaberger baskets.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, Wesley, she is survived by two daughters, Carolyn and husband Doug Lindsay of Newville, Sherri and husband Brad Wyrick of Shippensburg; one son, Brian Van Scyoc of Greencastle; six grandchildren, Jared and wife Katrina Lindsay, Danielle and husband Ben Thierry, Steven and wife Katelyn Wyrick, Heather and husband Cody Jones, Ethan Van Scyoc, and Lucinda Van Scyoc; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters; four brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Martin; and one brother, Doug Black.

Judith’s funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Green Spring First Church of God with Pastor Philip Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the church.
