Joyce P. Martin, 79, of Chambersburg, departed this life on the evening of Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born on April 12, 1944, in Rochester, NY, a daughter of the late William H. and Dorothy D. Clarke Porter. Joyce married Carlton B. Martin on January 22, 1981. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2008.

Joyce worked as an operator for the former Rochester Telephone Co. from 1964 until 1977. After working for the telephone company, she became a homemaker. Joyce was a former member of the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church, baptized on July 20, 2010. She was also an active and participating member of SpiriTrust Lutheran Life Center. In her free time she enjoyed coloring, puzzle books, crocheting, knitting, and shopping.

Joyce is survived by her brother-in-law, Garth Rauber; nine nieces and nephews, Garth Rauber, Jr., Mike Rauber, Michelle Bair, Wayne Strait, Louis Strait, Tammy Cramer, Linda Cramer, Douglas Porter, and Karen Porter; many great nieces and nephews; step-siblings, Gary Taft, Clayton Taft, Clinton Taft, Wanda Schillinger, and Thomas Tucker.

In addition to her parents and spouse, Joyce was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandy Cramer and Judy Rauber; and a brother, George Porter.

Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service. Joyce will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Carlton, in the Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
