Joy A. Mellott, 68, of Shippensburg, died on Monday, May 23, 2011, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born on December 8, 1942, in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Guy I. and Mildred M. Henderson Burkett.
Joy was an employee of the Carlisle Regional Medical Center, working as a Home Health Care Provider for many years.
She attended the Shippensburg First Church of God and was a member of the Golden Age Club at the Cottages of Shippensburg. Joy was a big NASCAR fan, listened to country music, Alan Jackson being a favorite. She loved her cats and her dog, Molly.
Joy is survived by two sons, Eugene C. Burkett of Shippensburg and Robert M. Proctor of Shippensburg; two daughters, Leora M. Stouffer of Shippensburg and Wanda J. Proctor of Mechanicsburg; one brother, Gary L. Burkett of Shippensburg; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard W. Burkett.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Paul L. Tatum will officiate. Interment will be private. Viewing will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
