Joseph A. “Big Joe” Campagno, 51, of Fayetteville, died on the morning of Monday, June 29, 2015.
He was born on September 23, 1963, in Shippensburg, and adopted by the late Jack A. and Phyllis J. Frohm Campagno. Joe was a 1981 graduate of the Shippensburg Area High School, attended the Chambersburg Area Vo-Tech to study mechanical drafting, and he was also on the Swim Team.
Earlier in life, Joe worked at the former Hoffman Mills; was also a House Parent at the former Scotland School for Veterans Children; and most recently, worked at 2 B Accessible, where he was a technician, helping disabled veterans.
Joe was an officer at A.B.A.T.E of Pennsylvania; a God Bless America Color Guard; a former member of the Sons of the American Legion; a new patch holder of S.a.B.S.C.; loved music; and liked to hunt deer. Big Joe was a strong and tireless political advocate of motorcycle rights in the State of Pennsylvania. He really enjoyed the connections he made within the biker community; cared deeply about the life-long friends he made within that community; and was known far and wide as a gentle giant with a feisty side and a big heart.
He is survived by his three children, Joseph A. Campagno, Jr. of Colorado; Alicia M. and her son Ethan of Harrisburg; and Caitlin E. Campagno of Chambersburg; his girlfriend, Kitty Varner of Fayetteville; and his former companion, Susan Snyder of Chambersburg.
Joe’s viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m., until 9:00 p.m., on Monday, July 6, 2015, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. A memorial service will be held at a later date and time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joe’s favorite charity, his daughter’s education, and may be sent to 1016 Stony Bridge Drive Chambersburg, PA 17202.
