John W. "Buddy" Wingert, Jr., Chambersburg, Pa. passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 while working on a farm near Shippensburg.
Born September 17, 1944 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late John W. Sr. and Zelda May Walters Wingert.
John was a 1962 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He was a lifelong farmer and a partner of his son’s dairy farm. He was employed at Shively Motors upon graduation until 1966. He worked at PENELEC in Shippensburg as a bucket truck operator, a lineman and eventually retiring from the Engineering Department in 2006 after 40 years of service.
John was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Chambersburg for 50 years, Orrstown Lodge 262 F. & A.M., Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Valley Forest # 145, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 842, VFW Post # 1599, both in Chambersburg, and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Lois Jean Rebok Wingert whom he married June 1, 1963, two daughters, Jody (Tim) Cooper of Greencastle, Kimberly (Bill) Robinson of Carlisle, one son Michael (Rebecca) Wingert of Chambersburg, one sister, Nancy J. Haar of Chicago, IL, grandchildren, Lauren Cooper Nicewander, Cynthia Arocha, Derek, Alicia and Somerlyn Robinson and Emily, Ryan and Megan Wingert, great grandchildren, Landen Cooper, Blake Nisewander and Gabriella Arocha, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Suzanne Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
