John J. Sysko, Jr., 84, of Shippensburg, formerly of Stroudsburg, passed away on January 23, 2024.
He was born on November 14, 1939 in Hecktown, Pennsylvania and was a retired algebra teacher with a 33 year career. During his life, he served on the NEPA Board of Directors, was the president of the East Stroudsburg Teacher Association, and was a member of Friends of the Shippensburg Library. He traveled extensively, visiting 32 countries with his wife, with a love for European river cruises. He had many cherished family trips to Canada and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing poker. He was known among family, friends, and the community for his kindness and his sense of humor.
John is survived by his wife Roseann Sysko, his two daughters Lisa (Sysko) Williams of Shippensburg and Sharon (Sysko) Kuchinski of Lansing, Kansas, two sons-in-law TR Williams and William Kuchinski, and four grandchildren Allison Williams and Christopher Williams of Harrisburg, Nicholas Kuchinski and his wife Lana Kuchinski of Denver, Colorado, Andrew Kuchinski of Denver, Colorado, and two great-grandchildren Lucian and Lochlan Kuchinski.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with Mother Barbara Hutchison officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
