John David Shrader, 73, of Shippensburg, died on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born on July 8, 1936, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Earl E. and Lillian Hays Shrader, Sr.
On October 6, 1955, John married Ms. Nancy L. Sherman in Hagerstown, MD.
He was a member of Chambersburg’s 104th Armored Cavalry, National Guard Unit for many years.
John was self employed as a wholesaler and retailer of seafood, while he also owned and operated his own dairy farm with his wife Nancy.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing bingo, just sitting on his front porch, playing cards every Sunday with John and Joan Knutelsky, and most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy; their daughter, Debra A. (John) Knutelsky of Shippensburg; one brother, William E. (Donna) Shrader of Shippensburg; two grandsons, Jered John Shrader (Jessica) Knutelsky and Joel J. Knutelsky both of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl E. Shrader, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. James O. Bolich will officiate. Interment will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
