John Reed

John L. Reed, 85, of Shippensburg, passed away on January 17, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born on August 17, 1936 in Upper Mifflin Township, a son of the late Albert D. and Vernal E. (Stine) Reed.

John retired as a plumber from the University of South Florida. Prior to that, he worked for Shippensburg University, John Patterson Plumbing & Heating, Frank Ferris Plumbing & Heating, and Hoffman Mills. John was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #6168, where he was in the marching unit, and the American Legion Post #223.

He is survived by his three sons, Michael J. Reed of Shippensburg, John D. (Shari) Reed of Bellefonte, and Timothy Reed of Florida; grandchildren, Aiden Reed and Catherine Faye Reed; and two siblings, Betty L. (James) Leonard and Lynn (Dorothy) Reed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul J. Reed.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Minutemen of the American Legion Post #223.
