John A. Newell, 71, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born on November 3, 1951 in Shippensburg, a son of the late Robert K. and Margaret E. (Doyle) Newell, Sr.
John worked as a mechanic for Hickman Automotive and Shively Motor, formally Naugle Motors. He was a member of the Hub City Club and Minnequa Social Club, both of Shippensburg. John enjoyed working on cars, mowing the grass, and watching old Western movies.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cynthia L. “Cindy” Newell; one daughter, Venus Snoke; and six siblings, Barbara (Donald) Cummings, Anna (Vincent) Martin, Christine (Dick) Koser, Roger (Karen) Newell, Brian (Patty) Newell, and Betty (Dwayne) Radabaugh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Ronald Newell, Linda Tucker, Valarie Jones, Audrey Rosenberry, Sandy Martin, and Robert “Kenny” Newell, Jr.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or service at this time.
