John C. Mummau, 78, of Shippensburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
He was born on July 19, 1936, in Manheim, a son of the late Jacob R. and Mable Cassel Mummau.
John was a retired dairy farmer and also sold DeKalb Seeds for thirty-five years. In recent years he provided transportation to many of the area Mennonite families.
He was a member of the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, where he was involved in many of the church activities. John also participated with the Disaster Relief Heifer Committee, the over 50 softball league, and the Shippen Square Dance Club. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and cherished spending time with his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Neff Mummau; his daughter, Beverly (Jay) Beidel of Carlisle; his son, Kevin (Mary) Mummau of Carlsbad, CA; five grandchildren, Joy Beidel, Wendy (Brandon) Danner, Janel Beidel, Kyle Mummau, and Jason Mummau; two great grandchildren, Rebekah and Micah Danner; two sisters, Esther Baker of Cabot and Mable (John) Hershey of Marietta; sister-in-law, Jean Mummau of Lititz; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, February 16, 2015, at the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Daniel House will officiate. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m., in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Monday morning, all at the church.
