John Cyrus Mohler, Sr., 85, of Orrstown, died in the early morning hours of Monday, October 5, 2015, at the Health Care Center, Shippensburg
He was born on June 27, 1930, in Pleasant Hall, a son of the late Jacob and Bessie Myers Mohler. John was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, enlisting on December 22, 1950 and honorably discharged on December 1, 1954. He married Dorothy Suders on November 23, 1957. She preceded him in death on September 19, 1990.
John worked as a machinist and inspector at the Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1988. He also drove truck for Gulf Oil, Nu Car, and Valley Quarries and was an auto mechanic for the former Mummert’s Garage in Orrstown.
In his free time, John liked to assemble models, set-up and operate his model railroad, do all kind of woodworking, and go to gun shows.
He is survived by his four children, Jennie Lynn Mohler of Shippensburg, John C. Mohler, Jr. of Shippensburg, Barry E. (Tina) Mohler of Orrstown, and Gerry A. ‘Buck” (Julie) Mohler of Spring Run; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and one great granddaughter.
His viewing will be Friday, October 9th, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Rev. Dr. Robert S. Beall will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery.
