John A. Marpoe, Sr., 71, of Shippensburg, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at home.
He was born January 22, 1943 in Shippensburg. John was a son of the late Harold A., Sr. and Myrtle M. Henderson Marpoe.
John retired from Domestic Pump and worked part-time at Towne Cleaners both in Shippensburg. He was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church, Shippensburg and was a United States Army Veteran.
In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie F. Mentzer Marpoe who died March 4, 2013. Two brothers, Harold and Thomas Marpoe, and one sister, Dorothy Britt also are deceased.
He is survived by a daughter, Martha J. Carey (Jeffrey), two sons, John Andy Marpoe, Jr. (Julie), and Tim D. Marpoe, Sr. (Crystal) all of Shippensburg, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one sister, Mary E. Bechtel of Chambersburg; and one brother, Paul Marpoe of Orrstown.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 24, 2014 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg at 2 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Steven M. Livermore. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
