John Kelso

John H. Kelso, 84, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.

He was born on August 13, 1939 in Shippensburg, a son of the late Harry W. and Mildred F. (Etter) Kelso, Sr.

John worked at Shippensburg University, as well as the Shippensburg Park & Recreation Department at Memorial Park. He was a faithful member of the Shippensburg Covenant Brethren Church, 253 Garfield St., Shippensburg and was baptized in 1960. John was an avid sports fan, particularly Shippensburg Greyhounds High School basketball. He had an impressive natural ability in memorizing players’ statistics. John also enjoyed rooting for Penn State football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

John had two brothers, Harry W. Kelso, Jr. and Jack Kelso.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Wayne Hall will officiate. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. John will be privately laid to rest alongside his parents in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
