John A. Hampton, 92, of Chambersburg, went home to be with the Lord at Chambersburg Hospital on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Born Saturday, September 12, 1931 in Perulack, Lack Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Cambridge Minnick and Ida Elizabeth Berrier Hampton.
John worked at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg for 36 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed raising beagles and hunting. He was a life member of the Minnequa Social Club, Shippensburg, PA.
He is survived by one daughter, Peggy (Percy “Ed”) Hays, Ft. Loudon; son in-law, Wayne “Woody” Stouffer; five grandchildren, Sheila (Mike) Neil, Sabrina (Rick) Wiley, Michael Stouffer, April (Justin) Brindle, and Destinee(Brett) Friskey; 12 great-grandchildren, Levi and Josie Tosten, Lydia Funk and Lilianna Wiley, Seth, Abby, Emma, and Mary Kate Stouffer, Johnathan and Raygan Brindle, Campbell and Ripley Friskey; one great-great-grandson, Wiley Funk; one sister, Beatrice Trego, East Water Ford, Pa; and a very special friend, Darlene Fraker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane Stouffer, sisters, Genevieve Kint, Anna Grace Reed, and Minnie Metz; and two brothers, Blaine and Dale Hampton; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with Pastor George Blessing officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, in the funeral home.
