John J. Eckenrode, 86, of Newville died Wednesday, August 12, 2015 in Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
He was born June 9, 1929 in Amberson. John was a son of the late Ray and Ruth Timmons Eckenrode.
He retired from the former Cumberland Woodcrafters in Carlisle. Years ago John worked for the former Pearless Furniture Co. in Shippensburg and C.V. Co-op in Longsdorf.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Ada Boher.
He is survived by his wife, Marie B. Stevens Eckenrode, a daughter, Patricia (Paul) Fisher of Newville, and a sister, Vesta Spidle and a niece, Cathy Beam both of Chambersburg.
Private graveside services will be held in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle with The Rev. Rocky W. Spear officiating.
