John Leroy ‘Squirt” Dunlap, Jr., 42, of Upper Strasburg, died on the morning of Sunday, May 3, 2015, at his home.
He was born on May 28, 1972, in Chambersburg, a son of John Leroy and Wanda Kelso Dunlap, Sr. He married Ms. Cassandra Harper on August 4, 2012, at his parent’s home.
John worked in construction for a period of time for Flohr Pools, Valley Builders, and some local Amish construction firms. He also began to provide transportation to many of the local Amish families in his area.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, motorcycles, drawing, spending time with friends, and especially looked forward to family movie nights at home.
In addition to his parents and wife, John is survived by two daughters, Kaitlyn N. Dunlap of Shippensburg and Harleigh T. Dunlap of Upper Strasburg; one son, Jacob J. Dunlap of Upper Strasburg; two step-sons, Bryce and Samuel Soini, both of New Hampshire; his grandson, Blake R. Middleton of Shippensburg; his brother, Todd Dunlap of Chambersburg; paternal grandparents, John C. and Marinda E. Dunlap of Shippensburg; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Savannah Dunlap; and his maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Mary Kelso.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Rocky W. Spear will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mongul Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
