John Diehl

August 10, 1926 — September 3, 2010

John E. Diehl, 84, of Orrstown, died Friday, September 3, 2010 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born August 10, 1926 in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County; he was a son of the late Clyde S. and Claire Beltz Diehl.
John retired from Letterkenny Army Depot and was a member of Lurgan United Brethren Church. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Falling Spring Chapter # 2840 AARP.
John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Anna M. Paxton Diehl, two sons; John E. Diehl, Jr. and his wife Lynne of Chamberburg, and Timothy R. Diehl and his wife Christine of Shippensburg,one daughter, Karen S. Evans and her husband Tom of Quechee, VT, one brother, H. Art Diehl of Chambersburg, five sisters; Pearl Groce Mellinger and Eleanor Seibert both of Shippensburg, Mary Groce of Roxbury, Lottie Stouffer of Lurgan, and Jane Rine of Orrstown, seven grandchildren; Jamie Diehl, Kristen and Erin Evans, Joshua, Ellen, Grethchen, and Chase Diehl and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in the Lurgan United Brethren Church at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Richard E. Mose. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion Posts will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg.
