John C. Diehl, 84, of Roxbury Road, Shippensburg, died Saturday, September 22, 2012 in the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg
Born June 9, 1928 in Shippensburg, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Samuel W. and Velva Commerer Diehl.
John was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg. He was a lifetime livestock dealer and along with his wife Pauline, they owned and operated the family farm. John was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and will be sadly missed by all.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, M. Pauline Staver Diehl who died February 11, 2012 and his grandson, Charles J. Diehl died in 1981.
He is survived by four sons, J. Edward Diehl and his wife Joanne, Wayne A. Diehl and his wife Jackie, and Terry L. Diehl and his wife Lorie all of Shippensburg, and Dennis R. Diehl and his wife Lisa of Chambersburg, one daughter, Susan M. Wenger and her husband John Eugene of Chambersburg, two sisters, Elizabeth D. Myers and Peggy Dunlap and her husband Carl all of Shippensburg, two sister in-laws, Nellie Staver of Shippensburg and Dorothy Ilgenfritz of Carlisle, 15 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg with The Rev. Dr. Brenda J. Kiser officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg and one hour prior to the services in church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Lutheran Church, 34 East Orange Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
