John Cronin

John M. Cronin, 87, of Marshfield, MA, formerly of Shippensburg, joined Our Lord on the morning of Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Life Care Center of the South Shore, Scituate, MA.

He was born on October 27, 1936, in Cambridge, MA, the son of the late Timothy and Elizabeth (Shugrue) Cronin. John married Alice C. Murphy on September 19, 1966. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2007.

John worked for and retired as a truck driver for the Massachusetts Highway Department for twenty-five years. He was a former member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Brantrock, MA, and Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, Shippensburg.

John was a friend to everyone and he enjoyed his lifelong hobby of looking at cars.

He is survived by his son, John M. Cronin, Jr. and wife Michelle of Hanson, MA; two daughters, Barbara A. Roberts of Rockland, MA, and Katy J. Szafranski and husband Paul of Marshfield, MA; eight grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and his sister, Rita Aronson of Winchester, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and spouse, John was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Cronin.

The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with his funeral arrangements. There will be no public viewing or visitation. His graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in the Corpus Christi Cemetery, Chambersburg.
