John J. Bilger Sr., 70, of Fayetteville, departed this life on Wednesday, September 5, 2023 at the Chambersburg Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born on Friday, May 1, 1953 he was the son of the late William F. and Catherine E. (Goloff) Bilger. John was a veteran of the United States Air Force, enlisting in August of 1971 and was honorably discharged in February of 1979.
He spent the majority of his career working in HVAC as an Installation Technician, which he took great pride in. He also worked on cranes at Grove International for a period of time.
John was involved in Shippensburg Midget Football and spent time as an umpire for the Shippensburg Little League. He was a member of the Durff Kuhn VFW Post #6168. In his free time he enjoyed watching Nascar and the Philadelphia Eagles, working on cars, and spending time with his family.
John is survived by nine children, Thomas (Karen) Robinson of South Carolina, Adam (Kat) Mayberry of Florida, Marsha (Stacey) Grimm of Hershey, Allen Sydow of St Thomas, Karen (Douglas) Graham of Fayetteville, Christopher (Colleen) Sydow of North Carolina, Christina Bilger of Waynesboro, Donna Bilger of Shippensburg, and John J. Bilger, Jr. of Shippensburg; four siblings, Joe (Sherrie) Bilger, William Bilger, Kathleen E. Diehl, and Madeline C. (Ronald) McBeth; thirty grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives Monica and Melanie, and a brother Robert J. Bilger.
John’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. John will be laid to rest in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
