Joann B. Ketterer, 75, of Newville, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 in the Hershey Medical Center.
She was born Monday, December 8, 1941 in Grant Township, Indiana County. Joann was a daughter of the late Elmer and June Burns Buterbaugh. .
Joann was a 1959 graduate of the Marion Center High School in Indiana County and was a 1963 graduate of Penn State University.
She retired from the Shippensburg Area School District in 1999 where she taught Home Economics, prior to that, she taught at Cumberland Valley School District and the Penn State Extension of Home Economics in Adams County. Joanne was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Newville and the American Association of University Women.
She also was a member of the PA Farm Women and the Cumberland county Farm Women the PA Retired Teachers Association, Shippensburg Fair Exhibits and the Future Home Economics of America.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth C. Ketterer, three brothers, James H. Buterbaugh of Atlanta, GA, William R. Buterbaugh of Vienna, VA, and Kenneth R. Buterbaugh of Great Falls, VA.
In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her sister, Marlene K. Black.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Newville First Church of God, 475 Shippensburg Road, Newville, PA 17241. Officiating will be Pastor Wayne A. Good and Mr. Rick Cook. Burial will be private. There will be no viewing, however a visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
