Joan Steick

Joan M. (Eckrich) Steick, 89, of Biglerville, passed away the evening of Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Celebration Villa of Shippensburg.
She was born on April 20, 1934, the daughter of the late Willard and Retha (Johnston) Eckrich.
As a kid, Joan was fond of horses and won numerous award shooting rifles. In high school, Joan was a member of the track and field team, where she set school records as a high jumper. After graduating from high school, Joan worked for The Phone Company as a switchboard operator. Upon meeting her husband, Ralph, she transitioned to becoming the family’s homemaker. In her younger years, she enjoyed yearly beach vacations with her family to Ocean City, Maryland.
She is survived by her son, Mark Steick of Shippensburg; and one sister-in-law, Nancy Eckrich of Mount Airy, MD.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Steick who passed away on February 23, 2023.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing or visitation. A celebration of life will be held at Celebration Villa of Shippensburg at a later date and time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one’s charity of choice.
