Jimmy R. Koontz, 83, of Newville, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Swain Health Center, Newville.
Born Friday, January 7, 1938 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Evelyn Koontz Burns.
He retired in 2000 from the former Hoffman Mills as a machine technician. Jimmy attended the Green Spring First Church of God in Newville.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 27 years, Bonita Louise Koontz, whom he married November 26, 1993; one sister, Betsy (Ray) Watson, Shippensburg; one brother, Robert Burns, Naples, FL; three step daughters, Mary (William) Miller, Fayetteville, Deborah Albright (Rodney) Pitsnogle, Chambersburg and Anna (Luke) Adams, Shippensburg; one granddaughter, Renee (Robert) Henry; seven step grandchildren, Brett Shaffer (Serena Sites), Robert (Stacey) Cuff, Zackery (Beth) Kelley, James (Alyshia) Cuff, Jacob Kelley, Hope Vough and Ann Marie Casey; six great grandchildren, Jessica (Nathan) Richard, Samantha Dyer (Ryan Wolf), Elijah Dyer, Jacob, Sarah and Abigail Henry; six step great grandchildren, Jacob Fickes, Dawson Secrest, Aaliyah Lippy, Alexander, Elizabeth and Charlotte Cuff; one great-great grandchild, Gabriel Richard; and one niece, Nicole Rotz.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Marie E. Brown Koontz; one daughter, LuAnn Lawson, one brother, Harry “Danny” Burns.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Green Spring First Church of God, with Pastor Philip Steele officiating. Burial will be in Newville Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., and one hour prior to the service at the Church.
