Jessie Pensinger Hays

July 15, 1921 — February 23, 2013

Jessie P. Pensinger Hays, 91, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing & Rehabilitation, Chambersburg, died on the evening of Saturday, February 23, 2013.

She was born on July 15, 1921, in Todd Twp., Fulton Co., a daughter of the late William L. and Ruth Knable Kuhn.

Jessie had been employed at the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg, and then went to work for Highmark, Mechanicsburg, where she retired from in 1985.

She was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 Ladies Auxiliary and liked to hunt for bargains at yard sales and thrift stores.

Jessie is survived by two sons, Allen R. “Red” (Alberta) Pensinger of Shippensburg and Thomas A. Pensinger, Sr. of Texas; two grandchildren Charles N. Pensinger of Shippensburg and Thomas A. Pensinger, Jr. of Virginia; two great grandchildren, Allen Joseph Pensinger and Sarah Pensinger; three sisters, Margaret Racilla, Martha Kuhn, and Charlotte Goetz; three brothers, William, Blair, and Denver Kuhn; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her first husband, Sgt. Harry Richard Pensinger, who was killed in action in 1944 while fighting in the European Threater, during World War II; her second husband, Charles E. Hays, also a World War II veteran,; and several siblings.

Her graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The Rev. Reuben C. Coldsmith will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
