Jerry C. Thomas, Jr., 90, lifelong resident of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of November 5, 2018, at his home.

He was born on October 23, 1928, in Shippensburg, a son of the late Jerry C. and Violet Fitzgerald Thomas, Sr. Jerry was a U.S. Navy veteran, enlisting on May 3, 1945 and honorably discharged on October 24, 1952. He married Pamela F. Lowman on February 14, 1976, in the former University Lodge, Shippensburg.

Jerry worked as a packaging specialist at the Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg for thirty-eight, retiring in 1984. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed being outdoors. He liked to spend time at his cabin in the Lower Horse Valley, hunting and fishing, or just simply walking through the woods. Jerry was interested in Native American archaeology and collected many Native American artifacts. He delighted in children and they loved him.

In addition to his wife of forty-two years, Pamela; three daughters, Vicki Lee Thomas of Bellingham, WA, Kristina Wile and husband John McNeill of Stow, MA, and Stephanie W. Erdley and husband Michael of Stafford, VA; six grandchildren; one great grandson; one sister, Mary Swidler of Shippensburg; step-sister, Betty Jane Wyrick of Shippensburg; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by five siblings; Geraldine, Mildred, John, Richard, and Martha.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Joe Thomas will officiate. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a worthy veterans charity of one’s choice.
