Jerry Fickes
October 2, 1943 — February 13, 2015
Jerry W. Fickes, 71, of Shippensburg, passed away on the afternoon of Friday, February 13, 2015, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
He was born on October 2, 1943, in Gettysburg, the son of the late Walter C. and Ruth Landis Fickes.
Jerry was a 1961 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He then attended Shippensburg University where he graduated with a B.S. in English and Journalism. He began his teaching career, which would span twenty-nine years, in the York School District. After three years in York, he returned to Shippensburg where he taught English at the high school. Jerry was also in-charge of editing and preparing the school yearbook.
He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Mona A. Brown Fickes.
Private interment will take place in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends and relatives may make a donation in his honor to the West End Fire and Rescue at 49 Lurgan Ave. Shippensburg, PA 17257.
