June 8, 1951 — August 30, 2016

Jeffrey Rook Zeigler, 65, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at his home.

He was born on June 8, 1951, in Carlisle, but raised in Newville, a son of the late John R. and Rita E. Rook Zeigler. Jeff was a 1969 graduate of Big Spring High School and a 1973 graduate of Shippensburg University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature. He married Dorothy E. DePasquale on December 24, 1997, in Orrstown.

Jeff was an English teacher at the former Scotland School for Veteran’s Children for twenty-nine years, retiring in 2000. He was a long-time member of the Sons of the American Legion at the Oscar M. Hykes Post #223, Shippensburg, where he served as Commander for many years. He enjoyed hunting, loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, and was an avid reader and doer of crossword puzzles.

In addition to his wife, Jeff is survived by a step-daughter, Jennifer Bair of Wilkes Barre; a step-son, Robert Paquette of Carlisle; eight step-grandchildren; and a “sister”, Wendy Tomczak of Shippensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jack and Jared Zeigler.

There will be a small gathering to celebrate Jeff’s life in the near future at his home. There will be no public viewing or visitation. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with his funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association at 3001 Gettysburg Rd. Camp Hill, PA 17011.
