Jeffrey G. “Buzzy” Swartz, of Shippensburg, went home to be with the Lord, on the morning of Friday, November 22, 2024, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born in Chambersburg, on September 17, 1956, a son of the late Max and Ottie (McManus) Swartz, Sr. Jeff married Patricia Ann O’Donnell on October 17, 1992. She preceded him in death on December 31, 1998.
Jeff worked as a mechanic at Country Corner Rental Center, Shippensburg, for thirty-one years, retiring in 2024. He was a former member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168, Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, and Minnequa Social Club, all of Shippensburg. Jeff enjoyed working on and took great pride in his 1965 Ford pick-up truck. Most of all though he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by four children, Chad Swartz of Lancaster, Candace Snyder and husband Jason of St. Thomas, Lea Ann Freet-Crider and husband Michael of Indiana, and Larry Freet and wife Angie of Harrisburg; eleven grandchildren, Aurora, Austin, Sarah, Michelle, Thomas Jr., Ethan, Jonathon, Michael Jr., Kassandra, Corey, and Jesime; many great grandchildren; step-mother, Donna Swartz; five siblings, Max Swartz, Jr., Sam Swartz, Tim Swartz, Billy Swartz, and Wendy Johnston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and spouse, Jeff was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael Swartz, Sr., John Swartz, and Douglas Swartz, Sr; and one sister, Sharon Swartz.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 30, 2024, in the Path Valley Cemetery.
