Jeanne E. VanScyoc, 92, formerly of Pleasant Hall, late of Newburg, departed this life on the evening of Saturday, December 3, 2022, at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle Hospital.
She was born on March 28, 1930, in Lineboro, Carroll County, MD, the daughter of the late LeRoy F. and Lottie K. (Krebs) Miller. Jeanne was a 1948 graduate of Chambersburg Area High School. She married Clifford M. “Cliff” VanScyoc on October 7, 1950, in Hagerstown, MD.
Jeanne worked as a seamstress throughout her life at the former Stanley, L’Aiglon, and Genesco companies. In her free time, she enjoyed Gardening, baking, and crafting. Jeanne was a longtime member of the Salem Lutheran Church, Pleasant Hall and the former Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband of seventy-two years, Cliff, she is survived by a daughter, Necia R. Doyle of Newburg; son’s-in-law, Bazil F. Doyle, Jr., of Newburg and Dennis L. Mowers of Pleasant Hall; two grandsons; one granddaughter; one step-grandson; five great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and three step-great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by a daughter, Darcy M. Mowers.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Ruth Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday afternoon at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Company or the Salem Lutheran Church.
