Jean Pinci, 88, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Thursday, September 2, 2021.
She was born at home in Gifford, McKean County, on September 10, 1932. Jean was raised with two sisters and two brothers by her parents, David A. and Ethelyn (Newton) Pytcher. She was a 1950 graduate of Bradford High School. Jean then attended Lock Haven State Teachers College and Shippensburg State Teachers College where she received a Bachelor and Master’s degree in elementary education. She met and married Donald S. Pinci when she was attending Lock Haven. Donald passed away in 2003.
Jean was a teacher for over twenty-five years in the Shippensburg and Chambersburg school districts. She retired in 1992 from the Chambersburg Area School District after being in the classroom and head teacher for many years at Lurgan Elementary School.
Jean lived on Roxbury Road for over fifty years, where she raised her family and made many friends. She raised three sons; Donald, Brian, and Craig, and one daughter, Jeana. She attended Christ United Methodist Church where she was active in Women’s Society and Choir. Jean loved to sew, especially quilts.
Family was important to Jean. She enjoyed having family gatherings for birthdays and at the shore in Ocean City, Maryland.
Surviving is one sister, Marylou Ross of Lewis Run. Her children also survive; sons, Donald Pinci and wife Dana (Woodbury) of Middleburg, Brian Pinci and husband David Lienhardt of Gathersburg, MD, Craig Pinci and wife Jill (Maurer) of York Haven, and daughter Jeana Kenee of Marysville. She has seven grandchildren, Chelsea W. Peters and husband Zach, Isaac W. Pinci and wife Chelsea, Travis Pinci, Jameson Pinci and wife Sara, Mary Angela Pinci, Anabelle Pinci, and Emma Kenee.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by one sister Leola Mae Chapman; two brothers, Richard Pytcher and David Pytcher; and her son-in-law, Richard Kenee.
Her funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Bruce Levy will officiate. Private interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be two hours prior to the service on Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home.
