Jean R. Ferich

Jean R. Ferich, 91, of Chambersburg, passed away the evening of Monday, October 7, 2024 at the Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born on September 29, 1933 in Upper Darby, PA, a daughter of the late Jacob and Sara Ressler Stutzman. 

Jean was a 1951 graduate of Olney High School in Philadelphia and a 1973 graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College where she obtained her RN licensure. She worked as a registered nurse for numerous nursing homes throughout her working years. Jean was a longtime, faithful member of the Messiah United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by two daughters, Debra J. (Michael) Heefner of Shippensburg and Dawn A. (John) Dunn of Goode, VA; seven grandchildren, David (Ashley) Heefner, Mark (Carolyn) Heefner, Rebecca (Taylor) Neas, Lauren (Jason) Paulson, Heather (Dunn) Richards, Michael (Tory) Dunn, and Matthew (Sarah) Dunn; and 17 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Rev. John F. Ferich, Jr., who passed away on January 13, 2008. Also preceding in death is one brother, Jerry Stutzman; and three sisters, Anna Woehr, Rhea Flurer, and Sara Lee Lloyd.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Jean will be privately laid to rest alongside her husband in the Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster.
