Jaye R. Alleman, 80, of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born November 25, 1939 in Chambersburg, PA. Jaye was a son of the late Harold and Mary Greene Alleman.
He retired from SKF Industries where he was a Senior Planning Coordinator. Jaye was a member of the Salem United Brethren Church where he served as Deacon. He was a member of Vigilant Hose Company since 1958, holding offices of President, Chaplain, Assistant Chaplain and Captain, member of the Shippensburg Fire Police, holding multiple positions to include, Captain and Paymaster. Jaye was a current board member of the Shippensburg Community Fair serving for over 40 years. He was a current Assistant Chaplain of the Cumberland County Fire Police Association and former Chaplain of the Cumberland County Volunteer Firefighters Association. He was a member of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Fireman’s Association, Social member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, an active member of Gideons in Shippensburg assisting with Bible distribution at the Shippensburg University and was a volunteer at Chambersburg Hospital. Jaye was a weekly devotional broadcaster on WSHP 1380 AM for many years and a 1957 graduate of the Chambersburg High School. He was a veteran serving with the United States Army National Guard.
Jaye is survived by his wife of 59 years, LuLu M. “Lu” Alleman; one daughter, Deann G. Varner and her husband Denny of Chambersburg; one son, Curtis S. Alleman and his wife JoAnna of Dillsburg; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Alleman whom they raised, Britney Welty, Alexis Green and her husband Nick, Parker Alleman, Steven Alleman, Curtis Alleman, Jr., Rebecca Alleman and Aden Alleman, and Carmella Natale; five great-grandchildren, Payton Green, Owen Green, Brantley Brady, Phoenix Alexander Richardson and Hailee Evalina Richardson; two brothers Dennis and Melvin Alleman; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Jaye was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Alleman.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. James O. Bolich. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Those in attendance are asked to observe the recommendations pertaining to reducing the potential spread of Covid-19; wearing masks, hand sanitizing, and social distancing as much as possible.
