Jay Rhinehart

December 8, 1945 — June 11, 2021

Jay C. Rhinehart, 75, a life-long resident of Shippensburg, PA, passed away on the afternoon of Friday, June 11, 2021, at his home with his family by his side.

Jay was born Saturday, December 8, 1945 in Chambersburg, PA. He was a 1963 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1965 to 1968.

After his service to his country, he returned home and worked for his late father, Ray C. Rhinehart, repairing televisions for Rhinehart’s TV Sales & Service and paving driveways for Ray C. Rhinehart Paving & Grading for 20 years. He then became a rural carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Newville, where he retired after 27 years.

Jay was a member of the Hub City Club, Shippensburg, State College American Legion Post #245, AMVETS Post #224 and the Landis-McCleaf Detachment Marine Corps League both in Chambersburg.

Other than his family, Jay’s biggest passion was Penn State Athletics. He was a season ticket holder at Beaver Stadium for nearly 50 years and proudly passed on his love for Penn State to his entire family and several of his friends.

Jay is survived by his wife, Bette L. Rhinehart, who he married on his birthday in 1984. He is also survived by his mother, Gladys D. Rhinehart; sons Gregory R. Rhinehart and his wife Lisa of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Rodney D. Masney and his wife Pamela of Monclova, OH; and his beloved grandchildren, Cole R. Rhinehart, Kara Jayana Rhinehart, Zachary L. Masney, Elizabeth A. Bricker and Alexandra L. Carlo.

A visitation with casual attire suggested will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Burial with military honors conducted by the Minute Men of the American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg will privately take place in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shippensburg Area Little League Association, P.O. Box 461, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
