Jay Franklin “Cork” Oiler, 92, of Newville, PA, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was the loving husband of Frances Evelyn Smith Oiler. He was born on December 2, 1928, a son of the late Edward Lee and Helen Cecelia (Myers) Oiler.
Cork graduated from Newville High School in 1947 and was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1947 until 1950. Being stationed in Tokyo, Japan was the highlight of his military career. Cork was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Newburg. He enjoyed his career as a dairy farmer and loved the great outdoors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Juanita Anne Oiler Cohick of Hilton Head, SC. He is also survived by three daughters, Sharon Weaver (husband Harold), Sandra Fulton (husband James), and Jayne Lyman (husband Matt); eight grandchildren, Harold Weaver II (wife Misty), Andrew Lyman, Virginia Lyman Yarrington (husband James), Bradley Lyman, Rosemary Lyman, Elias Fulton (wife Lindsey), Nellie Fulton Davidson (husband Lee), and Ethan Fulton (fiancé Emily Hill); and four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Christopher Weaver, and Lucy and Bob Yarrington.
In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Louise Oiler Brehm, and Helen Cecelia Oiler; and one brother, Edward Lee Oiler, Jr.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public viewing, visitation, or service at this time. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
