Jay Harold Myers, 81, Shippensburg, passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sunday, December 3, 1933 in Newburg, he was a son of the late Samuel C. and Mary A. Ile Myers.
Jay was a 1951 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He was a member of the Newburg First Church of God where he was one of the designers & engineers of the Living Christmas Tree. Jay was a self employed farmer and was formerly employed by the Local 66 Construction Union.
He was an avid hunter and loved farming. Jay was a devoted Husband, Father & Pappy.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Helen L. Hammond Myers, daughter, Jane L. (Kenneth) Strayer, grandson, Gregory R. (Carrie) Strayer, granddaughter, Laura A. (Eric) Williams, great granddaughter, Caitlyn J. Williams, three great grandsons; Alex E. Williams, Lucas J. and Cooper W. Strayer, all of Shippensburg, and one brother, Glenn W. Myers, of Newburg.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Harold E. Yeager officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
