Jay Paul Martin, 66, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Sunday, May 15, 2016, while visiting family, in Eldorado Springs, MO.
He was born on March 14, 1950 in Ephrata, Lancaster Co., a son of the late Paul B. and Emma H. Zimmerman Martin. Jay Paul married Ms. Edna Newswanger on March 16, 1972, in Lititz, PA. Moving to Shippensburg in 1979, Jay Paul and Edna opened Martins Roofing LLC., a business which he continued to own and operate with his family until his death.
Jay Paul is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Edna; six sons, Marvin N. (Della) Martin of Chambersburg, Lloyd N. (Lizzie) Martin of Shippensburg; Laverne N. (Lisa) Martin of Shippensburg, Elon N. (Alice) Martin of Greencastle; Glenn N. (Kara) Martin of Shippensburg, and Ray N. (Rosanne) Martin of Shippensburg; sixteen grandchildren; eight siblings, Laura Martin of Ephrata, Noah (Ida) Martin of Ephrata, Jesse Martin of Withee, WI, Edward Martin of Ephrata, John Daniel Martin of Ephrata, Eli (Ada) Martin of Dundee, NY, Emma Martin of Ephrata, and Reuben (Esther) Martin of Eldorado Springs, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jay Paul was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Eunice and two sisters, Mary and Esther Martin.
His funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Locust Lane Mennonite Church at 43 Hammond Rd. Walnut Bottom, PA 17266. The Locust Lane Mennonite Church ministry will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Jay Paul Martin residence, 262 Walnut Bottom Rd. Shippensburg, PA 17257.
His family kindly requests the omission of flowers.
