Jay Francis Clouse, 85, of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Friday, August 4, 1939, in Carlisle, PA, he was a son of the late John H. and Beulah Leigh Clouse.
Jay was a 1959 graduate of Big Spring High School. He was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God. His childhood church was St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Newville. He was very active in the Senior Center alongside his wife Loretta.
Jay had many loves in his life, most of all was the 64 years of marriage to his wife Loretta. He raised five children and watched many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. He also made many great friends throughout his life.
Jay was an avid sports fan, especially NASCAR, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies. His greatest passion was boating and fishing with family and friends.
He is survived by three daughters, Sheryl Ann (Rick) Chilcote, Debra Sue (Jeff) Gephart, and Tammy Rhea (Lonny) Killian; one son Gregory Alan (Wendi) Clouse; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Joanne Ross, Charles Clouse, Samuel Clouse, Virginia Deardorff, Linda Goyt, and Wanda Clouse.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Loretta M. Mellinger Clouse, who passed away October 17, 2024; one son, Jay “Randy” Clouse, one granddaughter, Nicole L. Clouse; and two brothers, Lee A. Clouse and John Edward Clouse.
A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date. Burial will take place in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
