Janet R. Nehf, 84, of Shippensburg, died on the afternoon of Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
She was born on September 7, 1930, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Paul and Katherine Heberlig Martin, Sr. Janet married her husband, James “Jim” L. Nehf on July 18, 1953, who survives her.
Janet was employed as an Inspector, at the former SKF Industries, Shippensburg, for twenty seven years, retiring in 1985.
She liked to travel and had many opportunities with Jim being a very successful insurance salesman. He would win vacations, about every other year, for being the top producer in his field. After their retirement, they set off across the country, mostly to warmer locales, in a fifth wheel R.V., and motorcycle, where they would spend time in different places and tour around different states. Florida became their home for a few years during this time. In her free time, Janet enjoyed taking long walks, and she was a social member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg.
Janet is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jim; her two sons, Scott A. (Cenith) Nehf of Shippensburg and Eric J. (Gladys) Nehf of St. Leonard, MD; three grandchildren, David M. and Valerie R. Nehf, both of St. Leonard and Nathan S. (Kellie) Nehf of Maryville, TN; one great grandson, Vincent Nehf of Maryville; one sister, Jean M. (“Pete”) Rotz of Shippensburg; two nieces, Wilma Sychak and Kathy Toleson; and two nephews, Bob and Rich Rotz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Martin, Jr.; and one sister, Betty M. (Marlin) Mohn.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 27, 2014, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Chaplin Jeff Warner will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
