Janet M. Helman, 88, of Shippensburg, died on October 1, 2010, at her home.
Born on April 27, 1922, in Pleasant Hall, a daughter of the late Denton G. and Lula G. Sollenberger Wilson.
On October 26, 1940, Janet married Mr. Lester G. Helman in Hagerstown, MD. He preceded her in death on November 1, 1981.
Janet was employed at the Beistle Company, retiring in 1984, after 30 years of employment.
She was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School class.
Janet is survived by her son, Lester I. “Joe” (Carole) Helman of Chambersburg; her daughter, Debra Jean Helman of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Michael Joe (Sandra) Helman of Shippensburg, Jeffery T. Helman of Shippensburg, and Brian D. Helman of Chambersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Linda K. Helman; one grandson, Todd Michael Helman; one brother, Clyde Wilson; and three sisters, Velma Chamberlain, Violet Killian, and Vesta Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg. The Rev. James O. Bolich will officiate. Interment will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday.
