Janet L. (Singer) Fields, 73, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, January 26, 2019, at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle.
She was born on October 23, 1945, in Newville, a daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Martin Singer and was a 1963 graduate of Shippensburg High School. Janet married Robert Fields, Sr. on December 12, 1992 at the Green Spring First Church of God. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2006.
Janet last worked as a nursing assistant at the Episcopal Home, Shippensburg, where she retired from. She also worked in housekeeping at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, for many years. In her younger years, Janet worked at the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg, and the former Newville Shoe Factory.
Although she never practiced it as a career, Janet was certified in reflexology. She was known for always looking after and caring for her family and friends. Janet loved children…….everyone’s children. In her free time she enjoyed reading and crafting. Janet was skilled at plastic canvas, knitting, crocheting, coloring, and putting together puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling to craft shows with her late husband, Robert.
Janet is survived by four siblings, Patricia A. (Jack) Myers of Shippensburg, Charles L. Singer of Florida, Nancy G. Crider of Carlisle, and Gayle M. (Clyde) Christman of Shippensburg; numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins; and two uncles, Jay Byers of Newburg and Robert Martin, Sr., of Shippensburg.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, February 1, 2019, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor John Byers will officiate. Interment will follow in the Air Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choice.
