Janet L. Bricker, 79, of 1851 Clinton Avenue, Chambersburg, died Friday, April 29, 2011 in Menno Haven, where she had been a resident for two weeks.
Born May 24, 1931 in Fayetteville, she was a daughter of the late H. Huber and Laurene Harvie Bowers.
During her life Janet worked as a receptionist in the office of Dr. Robert Wingerd and was an Avon Representative for over 20 years.
She was a 1949 graduate of Chambersburg High School and attended Shippensburg University.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599, Kindly Canines, and Falling Spring Court #139 Order of Amaranth.
She was the widow of Norman R. Bricker, Jr., who died December 1, 2007.
She is survived by two sons: Dana R. “Danny” Bricker and his wife Tammy, of Chambersburg and Norman H. Bricker and his wife Norma, of Shippensburg, five grandchildren: Elise, Daniel, Dane, Carley, and Casey, a brother-in-law: Blaine M. Brown, of Carlisle, two nieces: Cindy Grove and her husband Bob, of Lititz and Deb Richcreek and her husband Ron, of Carlisle, a number of cousins, and her beloved dogs: Snoopy and Charlie Brown. She was also preceded in death by a sister: Amy B. Brown, who died April 11, 2005, and a nephew: Mike Brown who died November 1, 1989.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Harold E. Yeager will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery. Viewing will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home.
