Jacob Harold Kaufman, Sr., 88, of Menno Village, Chambersburg and formerly a long-time resident of Shippensburg, PA passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 after a short illness.
Mr. Kaufman was born on August 1, 1929 in Pleasant Hall, PA. He was a son of the late John B. and Alverda Kaufman.
He was employed by H & H Chevrolet in Shippensburg, PA for 68 years. Mr. Kaufman was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg. He also served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for 14 years. His last assignment was as Commander of Troop F, 104th Armored Cavalry for four years. Mr. Kaufman was a Little League Coach for many years in Shippensburg.
He is survived by his partner Jacquelin M. Bishop; two sons, Jacob H. Kaufman, Jr. (wife Patty) of Chambersburg and Steven H. Kaufman (wife Brenda) of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Tony Kaufman of Dillsburg and Jaimie Kaufman of Carlisle; four great grandchildren and a sister, Atha J. Boggs of State College, PA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Kaufman who passed away January 25, 2008 and six brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Dana Blouch-Hanson. A private burial will take place in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at church.
