Jack Matthew Sease

August 10, 1943 — October 11, 2024

Shippensburg

Jack Matthew Sease, 81, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Mercy House of Chambersburg.

He was born on August 10, 1943, in Gettysburg, a son of the late Robert R. and Melba Sease. Jack married Velda M. Williams on October 14, 1967, in Thurmont, MD.

Jack worked at the Beistle Company, Shippensburg, for thirty-three years, retiring in 2002 as an assistant art director. His work encompassed far more though as he was also an inventor, engineer, and innovator of many of the machines and production methods used to develop numerous products produced by the Beistle Company.

He was extremely handy and enjoyed remodeling his home and several of his rental properties. Jack was known as a very charismatic guy, but he was also modest and discretely cared for and helped his friends, family, and others whom he knew were in need. He never sought or wanted any recognition for doing these selfless acts.

Jack was a man of principle who thought it was important to give back to his community. He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard; was on the Shippensburg Borough Council and Water Authority; served as Judge of Elections in Southampton Township West, appointed in 2014; Past-President and current Treasurer of the Lurgan Lions Club; recipient of the International Lions Club - Melvin Jones Fellows Award for humanitarian work; and was President of the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post #46, Chambersburg, until his death.

Jack was a visionary, as well as a loving husband to his wife Velda (Vel) for fifty-seven years; a dedicated father to his daughter, Stephanie S. Craig and husband Tim of Shippensburg; and beloved Gramp to his biggest sources of pride, Wyatt J. and Wade J. Craig of Shippensburg. He is also survived by a brother, Richard R. Sease of Laurel, MD; a brother-in-law George Williams and wife Joyce, of Gettysburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack gave fatherly love and care to his niece Melanie Sease and nephew, Joseph Sease, the children of his deceased brother, Terrence.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Terrence Michael Sease; and a granddaughter, Savannah Grace Craig.
