Jack A. Mentzer Barklow, 62, of Maclay’s Mill Road, Shippensburg died Monday, May 14, 2012, in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born December 7, 1949 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Aaron S. Mentzer and Ruby E. Shively Barklow.
Jack was a 1968 graduate of Shippensburg High School. He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Jack retired in 2001 from the Carlisle Barracks. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife of seventeen years, Sally A. Prye Barklow; two daughters, Patricia E. Barklow of Shippensburg and Amber N. Gordon-Barklow of Chambersburg; two granddaughters, Kelsey M. Gordon and Destiny D. Spriggs, both of Chambersburg; one sister Linda K. Smith and her husband Galen of Shippensburg; and a half-brother Terry Fuller of St. Thomas; and 15 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew and one great-nephew.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 18, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc. with the Rev. George W. Heckard officiating. Burial will be held in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. Military services will be conducted by the Shippensburg Area Veterans Council. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
