Jack B. Layton, Jr. 67 of Waretown, NJ, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at home. Born December 10, 1948 in Cumberland, MD, Jack was the son of the late Jack Bailey and Wilda Mae Deremer Layton.
Jack attend Cedar Grove Mennonite Church in Greencastle before moving to New Jersey. Jack was an electrician with Jack B. Layton and Sons in Marion. Upon moving to New Jersey, Jack worked at Pleasantville Campgrounds in Pleasantville and Hide-a-way Beach Campground in Cape May Courthouse. Prior to his retirement Jack was doing work as an accountant. In his spare time jack enjoyed working and spending time at Spencer’s Bayside Marina in Waretown, NJ. Jack was a 1967 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Rose who died at birth.
Jack is survived by four daughters, Jyl Layton of Mont Alto, Jacqueline “Nicki” Hoch and her husband Fred of Shippensburg, Brittney and Jessica Layton both of Forked River, NJ; three grandchildren Gregory and Alex Hoskins and Andrew Hoch, two step-grandchildren Tyler & Benjamin Hoch; two brothers Michael (Sandy) Layton of Chambersburg and Daniel (Deb) Layton of Greencastle; one sister Ruth (Robert) Poole of Greencastle and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. in Cedar Grove Mennonite Church in Greencastle, with the Revered James C. Strite officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
